Bernard is often amused in reading overseas discussion groups that he is referred to as 'The Canna Wizard from Oz!. Discussions groups quite often refer to some of his begonia hybrids which have their way into the States as well. On a personal note, Bernard has since retired from an active varied work career, and has more time to devote to his creative passion of hybridisation, as well as maintaining his vast collection of exotic birds, e.g. over 30 blackswans, some white swans, as well as Magpie Geese, Canada Geese and the exotic Cape Barren Geese, the beautiful grey birds with green beaks and pink legs.
